ICON
The intersection of art, entertainment,
culture, opinion and mad genius
July 21, 2008
Dear Readers,
This November, Primetime A & E will be entering its 17th year of consistently delivering a
tasteful, interesting magazine to the residents of the region. When we first entered the field
there were many other publications crowding the market. Some are still around, most are
not. As a business person, you know what it takes to make a business succeed: 24/7 commitment
to excellence, attention to detail and dedication to your customers. Above all — dedication
to your customers. Without your customers, returning and new, you don’t have a
business. In our business, we have two types of customers: our reader and our advertiser.
We strive to always keep our readers’ respect and our advertisers’ success in the forefront of
everything we do.
We’ve built a solid and loyal readership by not compromising on quality either in design
or content. Compromise is not in our vocabulary; integrity is. Short-term gains are not what
we look for; long-term relationships are.
In order to best describe our magazine and what readers can expect, we’ve decided to
rename it ICON. The name implies a standard of excellence that we’ve always sought to
attain. I’ve never forgotten what another publisher cynically said to me long ago: “You don’t
have to produce quality; all you need is something to deceive your advertisers with.” That
person is out of business and we’re still thriving.
To us, readers come before advertisers and right from the start our mantra was, “first we’ll
be great, then we’ll be successful.” That means making the best product we can, month after
month and year after year. That way, readers form an emotional attachment, an affiliation
with us. The more they feel that, the stronger their loyalty becomes. Quality and quantity of
readers, after all, are what matters most to business people who join in partnership with us
by giving us their advertising dollars. When readers are happy, advertisers are happy, too.
So, say hello to ICON. We promise to only get better. And we invite you to come along
with us — it’s going to be a great ride. Thank you for your continuing support.
Best,
Trina Robba
